for US $39, you can get...
... a few spa hours at Martha Tilaar Salon & Day Spa (http://www.marthatilaarspa.com/) in Jakarta! I got a one-hour aromatheraphy massage, a spa creambath for my hair (since it's so dry) and a top notch pedicure. I did get an "I Love Mondays!" 15% discount since I paid in cash as well, so that brought the total down to what amounts to US $36. then add on another 4 bucks total for tipping 3 separate people (they each got Rp 10.000,00). what a deal! I totally recommend it. I was planning to get something called "Body Contouring" but my driver this morning, Muskin and I were running late due to a stop at the Amex bank. they didn't have a good exchange rate for traveller's cheques, so they sent me elsewhere in morning traffic. atleast I have more than enough money for the rest of my trip and that's the important part. and of course i had to take a picture with all my bills! look how rich I am! haha. my exchange rate for my traveller's cheques were US $1 = Rp 9.030,000 (they switch our coma and decimal point). So pretty much, a red Rp 100.000 bill is about equal to US $11. as a comparion, a regular sized iced blended mocha drink at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and a large almond cookie only cost me about Rp 35,000, or US $3.87. Starbucks is pretty much the same. BEAUTIFUL!
just got home a little while ago and ordered some food in: dumplings (a litte weird, but ok) and chicken fried rice (amazing). Sari is, of course, in bed still.
in regards to my Bali trip: I am not staying at the Kuta Seaview Hotel for the entire trip, as they are booked. so from February 6-9, I will be at the Bali Garden Hotel (http://www.baligardenhotel.com/), which will come to about US $55, whereas the Kuta Seaview Hotel will be about US$58. Not too shabby! the stays would have been cheaper had Sari accompanied me only because her aunt got us another discount since Sari is Indonesian and I am American. but I am totally not complaining!
will try and post some pics tomorrow, as the only thing I will be doing is getting another card for my cell phone and packing for Bali :)
